Description

Visit three remarkable vineyards in the beautiful region of South West of France. Each vineyard has unique traditions that give rise to their reputation and, of course, produces exceptional wines, cognacs and pineaux.

The small vineyard in the Vendée region is a traditional boutique property. Its reputation for quality wines is increasing and soon this vineyard will get its own AOC.

In the vineyards of cognac estates are family own since a number of generations. Fathers and sons have been nurturing the terroir to produce the best grapes, run the distillation and age fine Cognacs and Pineaux.

The wonderful vineyard of Saint Emilion lies by the ancient town of the same name surrounded by the famous Châteaux. Its capacity to adapt and improve has led its reputation to be world renowned.

Day 1 : Arrival

 An English speaking guide will transport you from La Rochelle train station to the Poitou Marshlands.
 Here you will spend two nights with dinner provided in a 3*hotel or a luxury guest house, where you will meet the people from this area.

Day 2 : The vineyard of South Vendee and Poitou Marshlands.

 Morning : visit at the vineyard of Vendee where you will be shown through the property, culminating in a tasting of white and red wines.
 Lunch in a traditional French restaurant.
 Afternoon : Walk back through the Poitou Marshlands, Visit of an historic abbey.

Day 3 : La Rochelle and Rochefort

 Morning : Visit of La Rochelle.
 Lunch in a restaurant near the port.
 Afternoon : visit of Rochefort and the 18 year reconstruction project of the famous C18th Hermione gunship captained by La Fayette.
 Evening : Transfer to the vineyards of Cognac where you will spend three nights
 Dinner provided in a 3*hotel or luxury guest house, with tastings of local products.

Day 4 : The vineyard of cognac - the Grande Champagne area

 Morning : visit a traditional barrel-making factory.
 Lunch in a restaurant typical of this vineyard.
 Afternoon : visit at a traditional Cognac distillery, (supplier to one of the famous Cognac houses), with cognac and pineau tastings.

Day 5 : Discover the vineyards of Saint-Emilion

 Morning : guided tour of Saint Emilion and its underground monuments.
 Lunch in a Saint Emilion restaurant.
 Afternoon : visit of the Saint Emilion Grand Cru vineyard, including a tasting of their exceptional wines.

Day 6 : Return to Angoulême or Bordeaux train stations or airports.
